5-Hydroxytryptophan (5Htp) is an amino acid produced by your body from tryptophan which occurs in many foods and can be
extracted from plants. For years Europe has prescribed 5htp for depression, sleep problems, and obesity. The body produces
serotonin from 5Htp but with the average diet and stress filled life of most Americans it results with low levels of
serotonin. Low levels of serotonin can lead to depression, anxiety, irritability, impulsiveness, short attention span,
insomnia, exhaustion, chronic pain, craving for sweets and or carbohydrate rich foods. 5 htp also raises levels of other

DL Phenylalanine - The body converts phenylalanine into tyrosine, another amino acid essential for making proteins, brain chemicals including dopamine and norepinephrine, and thyroid hormones; may help reduce chronic pain associated with certain health conditions, such as multiple sclerosis (MS) and fibromyalgia, by stimulating nerve pathways in the brain that control pain.
5HTP - converts in the brain into serotonin. Serotonin is an important brain chemical involved in mood, behavior, appetite, and sleep.
L-Tyrosine - L-tyrosine can be converted by neurons in the brain and in the adrenal medulla of the adrenal glands to dopamine, norepinephrine (noradrenaline), and epinephrine hormones which are depleted by stress, overwork, and certain drugs. By replenishing norepinephrine in the brain, mental energy levels are enhanced and a feeling of contentment often occurs.
L-Carnitine- main function is to transport long chain fatty acids which when burned provides energy. This increases the use of fat as an energy source. Possible deficiency signs are confusion, obesity, muscle weakness. Has been used for an aid to weight loss, chronic fatigue syndrome heart problems, and lowering cholesterol.
